 PAC Celebrates 20 Years!

On March 1, 2010 the Piqua Arts Council will open the doors to its new location! In the 20th year since it was founded, PAC is leaving the office located in the Chamber of Commerce building and moving to its own storefront located at 427 N. Main Street. "Having a larger space will allow us to do so much more for the community," says Anna Baumeister, Executive Director.  Announcements about the positive impact this move will have on the community will be shared as details are finalized.

Metropolitan Opera Series

The Piqua Arts Council is partnering with Cinemark Miami Valley to promote this year's Metropolitan Opera HD Series. Nine operas will be performed live on stage at the Metropolitan Opera while Cinemark in Piqua receives a live feed of the performance that will be shown in HD on the theater screen. The arts council will distribute 90 complimentary tickets to area students who will be attending these prerformances to gain special credit. "It's the next best thing to a live performance," says Anna Baumeister, Executive Director. These performances will be included in the Art in the Schools program hosted by the arts council to enhance student's exposure and love of the arts while supporting the school's existing curriculum.

If you've wanted to attend a live opera and haven't been able to get out of town, this series is for you. Not only do viewers enjoy the opera live as it's being performed on stage, they also get a sneak peek at stage set changes, interviews with actors and behind the scenes action that they wouldn't get at the Met. The public is encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity. Adult tickets sell for $22.Learn more about this series: www.metoperafamily.org/metopera/broadcast/hd_events_current.aspx

Anna Baumeister accepted her position as Executive Director in February 2009 and immediately began fostering a relationship with the local OAC representative who mentored her through the application process. In December the arts council learned their first grant received a score of 94 out of 100 and would receive $1,468.
